The Solent Thrashers Women’s team forms an integral part of the wider Thrashers programme and provides opportunities for women to play full-contact American Football.The team competes in the NWFL Premiership 9s, the highest level of women’s American Football in the United Kingdom.Established as part of the club’s commitment to growing the game and widening access, the Women’s programme is open to players of all experience levels from complete beginners to experienced.

Coach Dave Gibbs is the Head Coach & Offensive Coordinator of the Solent Thrashers.With over a decade of coaching experience, Coach Gibbs is recognised as one of the top coaches in the UK, known nationally for his strategic insight and dedication to developing players at all levels after leading record-setting offenses in both Adult Contact and University American Football.A previous BAFCA Coach of the Year winner, Coach Gibbs is also the Offensive Coordinator for the Great Britain Men’s Contact National Team and a Director of the British American Football Coaches Association.

The Solent Thrashers Womens Team have assembled a young and talented coaching staff, focused on player development and building one of the most competitive rosters in the country.Collectively, our coaches have won multiple national championships and several currently serve across various Great Britain national team programmes at both junior and senior levels.The Thrashers are always recruiting for new coaches to add to our staff. We offer one of the most comprehensive coach development programmes in the UK, focused on developing the next generation of elite British American Football coaches.

Coach Adam McClure is the Head Coach of the Solent Thrashers Womens Team.Bringing over his extensive playing experience as a former Great Britain Offensive Lineman, as well as coaching experience from University American Football, Coach McClure leads the Thrashers Womens on their journey to becoming one of the top sides in the NWFL.In addition to his coaching role, Coach McClure is also the Chairman of the Solent Thrashers.

Join The Solent Thrashers Coaching StaffThe Solent Thrashers are one of the most consistently successful teams in British American Football and the most successful on the South Coast since we moved to Southampton in 2011.We have an expert coaching staff, led by the Great Britain National Team Offensive Coordinator, and a focus on player, coach and club development to consistently push for improvement.We are constantly recruiting for new & experienced coaches, with an emphasis on staff development to continue to provide the best experience for our players in the country.Additionally, for new coaches we have launched the Solent Thrashers Coaching Academy, a structured, season-long development pathway for assistant coaches.It’s designed to help you progress from supporting a unit to confidently leading your own position group, and eventually mastering advanced teaching and player-development skills.After the initial season, there’s an opportunity to review with more advanced teaching and more independent responsibility through the second and third seasons available within the course

We are actively recruiting in the following areas:

Media TeamHelp us tell the Thrashers story and bring the club to life across social media, web and video platforms.From big plays on game day to behind-the-scenes moments at training and events, our Media Team plays a key role in how the club is seen and experienced by players, supporters and the wider community.

We are looking for:- Video camera operators -- Videographers -- Content capture for games, training and club events -

You will work closely with our coaching, marketing and communications teams to build the club’s profile, celebrate our players and showcase the unique Thrashers matchday atmosphere.

Game Day PersonnelThese roles are the engine room of every home fixture and are essential to delivering a safe, organised and professional matchday experience.

We are recruiting volunteers for:- Chain gang (down and distance markers) -- Ball holders and runners -- Water provision for players -- Music, PA and announcements -- Pitch and equipment set-up and take-down -


These positions place you right at the heart of the action, working pitch-side as part of a close-knit team and playing a vital role in bringing game day to life.

Physiotherapy SupportPlayer welfare sits at the core of everything we do.


We welcome interest from:- Qualified physiotherapists -- Student or trainee physiotherapists seeking practical sports experience -


This role supports players before, during and after training and games and offers valuable hands-on experience within a fast-paced, competitive contact sport environment.

Medical Cover (Matchdays)For all home fixtures, the Solent Thrashers are required to provide qualified medical cover in line with league regulations and insurer requirements.These roles are critical to player safety and allow fixtures to take place.

Emergency First Aider (EFA)An Emergency First Aider must:- Hold a Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), NQF, QCF or equivalent (Scottish/Welsh) Level 3 First Aid qualification -

Immediate Care Practitioner (ICP)An ICP must:Meet the requirements of a first-aid trained therapist,andBe either:- A HCPC-registered paramedic -or- Hold a qualification from a course endorsed by the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care (commercial, voluntary or corporate providers) -
