It’s open to everyone, whether you have a connection with Aviva or not. We want you to enter a project for your community and tell us what a difference these funds could make.
Get enough votes from friends, family and supporters in your community and your project could make it to the Finals, where a judging panel will award the funds.
*Update: Thank you to everyone who supported the Solent Thrashers. We're pleased to confirm we have been selected as the category finalist and have received funding however sadly we missed out on the full award at the judges stage.*
Tesco - Bags of Help
Tesco community grants fund thousands of local projects in communities right across the UK. To date they have helped people to improve community buildings and outdoor spaces, to buy new equipment, to train coaches or volunteers, to host community events and much more.
Launched in 2015, Bags of Help sees charities and community organisations awarded grants to fund local projects. Originally funded by the sale of 5p carrier bags it reduced single use bag use by 72%.
In August 2017 Tesco replaced single use carrier bags with new Bags for Life made from 94% recyclable plastic, to help reduce bag use even further. The money raised by the sale of these bags now funds Bags of Help.
Three community projects in each local area will be voted on by customers in Tesco stores throughout the UK, with projects changing every other month. Following the vote, the project that received the most votes in its area will receive a grant of up to £4,000, second place receiving up to £2,000 and third place up to £1,000. Customers are given a token when they buy their shopping that they can use to make their choice using the voting units in most stores.
*Update: We're very pleased to announce, with fantastic support of the Thrashers family and the local community we have secured second place and successful in securing £2,000.00 funding to assist the club in improving and developing the sport within the local community.*
